In the heyday of analogue synthesizers, Tom Oberheim and Dave Smith were both influential, cordially competitive designers. When legends like that work together, you just know the results will be astonishing! The result of their collaboration, the Sequential OB-6 polyphonic analogue synthesizer, is a great piece of technology with a delightfully retro look. Don't let its old-school controls and striking blue stripes fool you, though, the OB-6 is a brand new instrument with modern options such as MIDI, USB-MIDI, LEDs and room for hundreds of presets.
The Sequential OB-6 Analogue Synthesizer
The Sequential OB-6 is a six-voice polyphonic analogue synthesizer with two discrete voltage- controlled oscillators, a sub oscillator and a noise oscillator per voice. Their combined signal is sent to a 12dB filter (with low-pass, band-pass, high-pass and notch functionality), so you can colour the spectrum. An analogue VCA follows, and a comprehensive, studio-grade effects section completes the picture. Along the way, you'll have plenty of possibilities to shape your sound by means of envelopes, LFO, various routing options and real-time controlling. In other words, you'll certainly get the chance to express yourself!

With the OB-6, Sequential truly caters to sound designers. Thanks to a control panel full of knobs and buttons, editing sounds is a piece of cake. Na jaren te proberen om een dikker geluid uit een Deepmind te halen, deze synth aangeschaft. Is het (heel/te) veel geld? Ja. Is het dat waard? Ja.
Met de filter verder open op een Deepmind klinkt het snel 'farterig', breekbaar en dun. Dit ligt waarschijnlijk aan mijn kwaliteiten, maar het duurde lang om een goed geluid te krijgen.
Met de OB-6 is het onmogelijk om geen goed geluid te hebben. Alles ligt lekker in je gehoor. Crispy highs, ronde bassen. De layout is duidelijk en stiekem kun je met wat op het eerste oog ' simpel' lijkt, heel erg veel.
Een nadeel voor sommigen zou kunnen zijn 1 lfo voor alles, een modwheel die enkel effect heeft op de lfo, en ipv van een display heb je een cijfer van je preset. Dus of alles uit je hoofd leren, of het positieve: de uitnodiging om zelf te experimenteren aan te gaan.
Dit zou voor een ster minder kunnen zorgen, maar een synth met deze sound kan niet anders dan 5 sterren krijgen. Een classic
Aantal synths uitgeprobeerd, maar dit is de top! Zeer krachtige en warme sound, prachtig om te horen en te zien, straalt degelijkheid uit (superieure bouwkwaliteit(). Eerder een Prophet 6 gehad, maar verkocht omdat ik die te 'tam' vond klinken. Natuurlijk een kwestie van smaak maar de OB-6 geeft wat ik in een analoge synth zoek. Hoge prijs meer dan waard.
Amazing synth, super warm sounds, fat basses & lush pads! Super easy to use and the Oberheim filter sounds incredible, very warm. Working great in my projects loving the synth so much!

Super dikke synth, mooi afgewerkt. Had 1 LFO meer mogen hebben en iets uitgebreider display had ook wel fijn geweest. :)
